Taking care of yourself after surgery or treatments for prostate cancer is very important. You will want to make sure that you get plenty of rest and time to recuperate. This will help you to heal more quickly, and reduce the risk of any sort of complications. Make sure that you get the proper nutrition that you need, including whole plant foods like fruits and vegetables, and whole grain foods like pasta, rice, bread or cereals. This will help you to heal more quickly and may reduce the risk of recurrence.
Following Up –
After treatment for prostate cancer, your doctor will want to monitor your condition closely. This is because of the risk of complications, and the risk of recurrence. He or she will most likely want to do tests about every 6 months to ensure that there are no recurrence problems. Some testing like this might include blood testing, digital rectal exams, and follow up appointments. It is especially important that you keep these follow up appointments. Sometimes after treatment for prostate cancer, the last thing a man wants to do is see his doctor, but it is vitally important for your health and quality of life.
Life Changes –
Often times after a man has been treated for prostate cancer, he will feel the need for some important life changes. He may feel as though he has beaten death, and wants to live life to the fullest and do things he has never done before. This can be a great thing to help you through your fears and insecurities about the cancer. Speak to your doctor before doing anything that may physically stress you, and make sure that you are in good enough health for whatever your plans are.
